Founded in 1983 by Alan Pippenger at a time when signs were made by hand painting letters onto wood, metal, banner or poster material. In 1985, after a year of marriage to Carolyn, SignPrinters purchased the first computerized sign making equipment in the area.
Incorporating in 1987 under Mag-Tags, Inc. d/b/a SignPrinters, Carolyn Pippenger became President and primary stock holder. The continued growth of the business allowed SignPrinters to move, in 1992, to a newly renovated 6000 square foot building on Max Drive.
Today the company has a reputation for using and selling cutting edge sign making technology. Three wide format printers using “green technology” produce high quality wide format color prints in minutes. In addition, there are two large laminators which assist in production of tradeshow displays and graphics as well as mounting posters and laminating prints.
SignPrinters has been certified as a Minority Business Enterprise since 2002 with The City of Tallahassee and Leon County as well as with the State of Florida, as well as being certified as a small business enterprise in the CCR Trading Partner Profile for the government small business set-aside program. We stay connected with the business community by being a member of the Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce and Leads 2, TIPS of Tallahassee, North East Business Association and TSAE.
Consulting
Since 1989 SignPrinters has provided consulting services to the sign industry. The company sells and installs Summagraphics thermal resin printers and the complete line of Summagraphics cutting plotters. We are also a representative of Infiniti America for sales of their 1612S UV curing Flatbed. For software, Autogram International in Athens, Greece has granted SignPrinters the sole rights to distribute their AlphaSign signmaking software in the United States.
